Tiruppur-Railway-stationTiruppur railway station is a railway station severing the city of Tiruppur, or the textile city of India.The station belongs to the Salem railway division and is a major transit point of the Southern Railway Zone, one of the 7 Railway Zones of the Indian Railways. It is also known by its official code:TUP.

The Tiruppur railway station is located at the heart of the Tiruppur city, at close proximity to the Old Bus Station of the city. The new bus stand located at PN road at the Northern part of the city is a 10–15 minutes drive from the station.

The train station falls on the Chennai-Palakkad broad gauge line (laid in 1983) which is fully electrified and has two tracks. Almost every daily Express train or long-distance trains has a halt in the station except for a select few such as the Trivandrum Mail and the Bangalore Kochuveli Express.
Despite Tiruppur being one of the top revenue earners in Salem Division, the railway station has only 2 platforms and no starting trains from the city. About 30,000 passengers travels to Tirupur per day despite not being a Railway Junction. As a result Tirupur railway station is always crowded.]
The nearest airport to the station is the Coimbatore International Airport situated 35 km west of the city. The nearby stations are the suburbs of Kulipalayam towards the East and Vanjipalayam towards the West.

Tiruppur or Tirupur is a city in the Kongu Nadu region of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Tiruppur is the administrative headquarters of Tiruppur district and the fifth largest urban agglomeration in Tamil Nadu. Located on the banks of Noyyal River, it has been ruled at different times, by the Early Pandyas, Medieval Cholas, Later Cholas, Vijayanagar Empire, Madurai Nayaks, Mysore Kingdom and the British. It is situated at the centre of the South Indian Peninsula, about 450 kilometres (280 mi) southwest of the state capital Chennai and about 50 kilometres (31 mi) east of Coimbatore.

Tiruppur is a major textile and knit wear hub contributing to 90% of total cotton knit wear exports from India.The textile industry provides employment to over six lakh people and contributed to exports worth ₹200 billion (US$3.0 billion) in 2014-15.

Major temples in Tiruppur were built during the reign Cholas and Pandyas. Sukreeswarar Temple, is a 10th-century temple situated at the outskirts of Tiruppur is considered one of the four ‘Sirpa Sthalangal’ in Kongu region. An epigraphic study conducted studies at the temple reported that though the temple was built by Pandyas, different inscriptions state that the place was used by tribals to offer poojas to ‘Shivalingam’ as early as 5th century.[63]
The Town Hall, new railway over-bridge, Tiruppur Kumaran memorial, corporation memorial pillar are some of the landmarks in the Tiruppur city.
