The original advertisement for JE and DMS was published on 13 August 2026, and a subsequent corrigendum dated 18 August 2026 added the CMA post along with 35 additional vacancies. Candidates who have been waiting for a large-scale technical recruitment drive in Indian Railways can now apply online from 14 August 2026 to 13 September 2026. Result Details
The official notification for CEN No. 04/2026 was published on the official RRB websites on 13 August 2026. On 18 August 2026, RRBs issued Corrigendum-1, which introduced several important changes. A new post, Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA), was added with 35 vacancies across RRB Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Guwahati, and Patna. Additionally, one extra JE/Electrical/TRS vacancy was added at RRB Secunderabad, taking that RRB’s total to 111. A new Medical Standard B-2 was introduced, and the CMA exam syllabus was added as Annexure-VIII (E). The notification title and footer were updated from “CEN No. 04/2026 (JE/DMS)” to “CEN No. 04/2026 (JE/DMS/CMA)”.

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification:
- Junior Engineer & Depot Material Superintendent: Three-year Diploma in Engineering (or equivalent B.E./B.Tech) in the discipline relevant to the specific JE post opted for. DMS candidates need a three-year Diploma in Engineering in any discipline.
- Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant (CMA): B.Sc. degree in Physics and Chemistry with a minimum of 45% marks from a recognized University/Institute, in any one of these combinations: (a) B.Sc. with Physics as major/specialization/Honours and Chemistry as a subject; (b) B.Sc. with Chemistry as major/specialization/Honours and Physics as a subject; or (c) B.Sc. with any other Science subject (including Mathematics/Mathematical Statistics) as major/specialization/Honours, with both Physics and Chemistry as subjects in the course.
Candidates awaiting final results of the prescribed qualification are not eligible to apply. Qualifications must be held on or before the closing date, 13.09.2026.

Selection Process
The selection process comprises four stages: 1st Stage CBT (CBT-I), 2nd Stage CBT (CBT-II), Document Verification (DV), and Medical Examination (ME).
CBT-I (Common for all posts): 90 minutes, 100 questions.

Negative marking: β mark deducted for each wrong answer in both CBTs. Minimum qualifying marks: UR & EWS 40%, OBC-NCL 30%, SC 30%, ST 25% (relaxable by up to 2 marks for PwBD candidates where PwBD vacancies are short of eligible candidates). CBT-II shortlisting: 15 times the community-wise vacancy per RRB, based on CBT-I merit. DV shortlisting: equal to the number of vacancies, based on CBT-II merit using a normalized Merit Index across Exam Groups. A virtual calculator is provided on-screen during CBT-II only.
How to Apply
- Visit the official RRB website or rrbapply.gov.in and Create an Account (mandatory personal mobile number and email ID; these cannot be changed later).
- Log in and select CEN No. 04/2026 (JE/DMS/CMA).
- Choose one RRB only and indicate zone/post preferences in order – this choice is final and cannot be changed.
- Fill in personal, educational and category details carefully.
- Complete live photo capture (webcam/front camera) as per the prescribed guidelines; upload signature (JPG/JPEG, 30β49 KB).
- Upload SC/ST certificate (PDF, under 400 KB) if opting for free train travel facility.
- Pay the applicable examination fee online (internet banking / debit-credit card / UPI).
- Submit the application; note down your Registration Number.
- Use the modification window (16.09.2026 to 25.09.2026) if corrections are needed, on payment of βΉ250 per modification.
Important: Multiple applications to different RRBs, or multiple applications to the same RRB, will lead to rejection of all applications and debarment from future RRB/RRC exams.

- Educational qualification certificates (diploma/degree, as applicable to the post) with date of issue
- Matriculation/10th certificate (for name, DOB, father’s/mother’s name)
- Category certificate (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/EBC), in prescribed Annexure format, from a competent authority
- Ex-Servicemen declaration/employment certificate, where applicable
- PwBD disability certificate and UDID, where applicable
- Valid original photo ID (Aadhaar, Voter ID, PAN, passport, driving licence, etc.)
- Recent colour passport-size photograph and running-handwriting signature
- NOC from present employer (for those serving in Government/PSU), where applicable
Important Conditions
- Only one application per candidate against this CEN is permitted; multiple applications lead to rejection and debarment.
- Vacancies are provisional and may increase, decrease, or become nil, per Railway Administration requirements.
- A candidate with more than one qualifying discipline may choose only one Exam Group, and is then eligible only for posts mapped to that group.
- Medical fitness as per the prescribed Medical Standard (A-3/B-1/B-2/C-1, as applicable to the post) is mandatory; no alternative appointment is given if found unfit.
- Once a category/post/RRB is allotted, candidates forfeit the right to be considered for any other post/category in the same pay level.
- Use of unfair means, impersonation, or false information leads to lifetime debarment from RRB/RRC exams and possible legal action.
