Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) intends to recruit 50 Assistant Software Engineers for its on-going and upcoming Projects. Selection would be based on Gate 2019 Result of Computer Science and Information Technology (CS) Paper conducted by IIT/Madras.

Age Limit

22 to 27 Years (as on last date for submission of complete application) relaxable by 3 yrs for OBC-NCL 5 yrs for SC/ST.

Scale of Pay (CDA)

7th CPC Level 7+DA and other allowances as per CRIS Rules (Basic Pay at the beginning of the scale would be approx. Rs.44900 per month)

UR-Unreserved OBC-NCL-Other Backward Classed-Non Creamy layer, SC-Scheduled Caste, ST-Scheduled Tribe, PWD-Persons with Disability, EWS-Economically Weaker Section.

(1) Requirements above are tentative and the same may increase/decrease based upon requirement of CRIS.

(2) 3% of the requirements are reserved for PWD [degree of disability over 40% of one leg (OL) and partially deaf (PD)]. Age limit would be further relaxed by 10 years for PWD candidates.

(3) Candidates should note that only the Date of Birth recorded in the Matriculation/ Secondary School Examination (Class 10) certificate or an equivalent certificate, will be accepted by CRIS for determining the age eligibility and no subsequent request for its change will be considered or granted.

In 1982, Indian Railways (IR) set up a central organisation to computerise freight operations. The Ministry of Railways saw the need in 1986 for a dedicated, autonomous organisation and established CRIS, an umbrella organisation for all information technology-related activities on Indian Railways. It was tasked with designing, developing and implementing the Freight Operations Information System (FOIS) and its communications infrastructure. CRIS began functioning in July 1986 as an autonomous organisation headed by an executive director (later renamed managing director).

A unique feature of CRIS is the collaboration by IT specialists and railway experts from Indian Railways. Systems managed by CRIS have been recognised by Computerworld. CRIS received the Prime Minister Award for Excellence in Public Administration on 21 April 2008, and the IBM Beacon and Top Star Awards for e-working on 1 May of that year.

CRIS held a symposium, “IT Can Happen in Government”, in New Delhi on 1 July 2010 after a previous symposium on 6 July 2009. The symposium explored challenges faced by government agencies in meeting their IT needs and creating IT systems. A seminar on big data was held in July 2014, followed by a one on smart cities in July 2015. CRIS seminars are held annually, with the most-recent one (on mobility and mobile apps) on 2 July 2018.

ELIGIBILITY:
(A) Only candidates possessing a valid Gate 2019 score along with prescribed qualification are eligible to apply for the required position mentioned in this advertisement.

(B) Candidates are requested to note: Candidates whose Normalised Marks are less than the cut-off marks appearing on the Gate 2019 Score Card in their respective category will not be eligible to apply.

Educational Qualifications

BE/B. Tech in Computer Science & Engineering or Computer Science or Computer Technology or Computer Science & Information Technology or Computer Applications, or MCA or B.Sc (Computer Science-4 year degree course). Relevant Degree from an AICTE//ugc recognized institute or equivalent qualification as per Govt. of India Rules, with min 60% marks or equivalent CGPA (55% for SC/ST/PWD candiates), and GATE Scores as Specified. Candidates with ME/M.Tech in apply provided they possess the required GATE 2019 Scores.
