Western Railway Recruitment 2025: Act Apprenticeship

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have completed 15 years of age and must not have attained 24 years of age as on 23/03/2026. SC/ST Candidates: Upper age limit relaxed by 5 years. OBC Candidates: Upper age limit relaxed by 3 years. Persons with Disabilities (PWD): Upper age limit relaxed by 10 years. Ex-Servicemen: The upper age limit is relaxed by an additional 10 years for Ex-Servicemen, plus the length of military service rendered, and an additional 3 years, provided they have completed a minimum of 6 months continuous service in the Defence Forces.

• Fitter: 8th standard pass with a minimum speed of 10 km/hr
• Electronics Mechanic: 12th standard pass with minimum marks in mathematics and physics
• Welder: 8th standard pass with a minimum speed of 10 km/hr
• Electrician Mechanic Refrigeration: 12th standard pass with minimum marks in mathematics and physics
• Turner: 8th standard pass with a minimum speed of 10 km/hr
• Machinist Machinist: 12th standard pass with minimum marks in mathematics and physics
• Plumber: 8th standard pass with a minimum speed of 10 km/hr
• Carpenter: 10th standard pass with minimum marks in mathematics, science, and English
• Painter (General): 8th standard pass with a minimum speed of 10 km/hr
• Draftsman (Civil): 12th standard pass with minimum marks in mathematics and physics
• Diesel Mechanic: 10th standard pass with minimum marks in mathematics, science, and English
• Stenographer (English): Graduation with a minimum speed of 100 words per minute in English typing

Reservation

The following reservations are applicable:

• 4% for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD)
• 3% for Ex-Servicemen
• Reservation to the extent of 4% for PwBD and 3% for Ex-Servicemen is included within the overall notified slots and are not to be treated as additional.
• Candidates applying against vacancies reserved for SC/ST/OBC-NCL must upload their Caste Certificate in the prescribed Central Government format, issued by the competent authority. Similarly, OBC applicants must upload an OBC Caste Certificate along with a Non-Creamy Layer certificate valid for the current year 2025-2026.
• Reservation for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) Candidates who are not covered under the reservation scheme for SC/ST/OBC-NCL and whose family has a gross annual income of less than ₹8.00 lakh (Rupees Eight Lakhs only) shall be identified as belonging to the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) for the purpose of availing the benefit of reservation.

Selection Process

3. A final interview panel will assess the candidates’ suitability and select the best candidate(s)
4. The selected candidate(s) will be appointed as Act Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961
